Michele Volpicella was born in 1955, in Bari and began his approach to art from an early age. He improved his artistic formation with tenacity and passion at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari and attending Professor Antonio Laurelli’s studio. He was described by his teachers as having an undoubted ability. He is gifted with realistic landscape views and strong chromatic sensitivity. He cultivated his art and talent through the utmost curiosity and dedication, being inspired by the writings of contemporary poets.
He has participated in numerous competitions with significant success: in 1990, the National Painting Competition on “The Nativity”; in 1993, the National Painting Competition on “The holy places of Pope Benedict XIII” and the 1993 Town of Casamassima Award; in 1994, the International Meeting of Contemporary Art; in 1995, the Anglo-Italian Association for the contest “The poetry of John Keats”; in 1997, the “Remo Brindisi” International Competition of Painting; in 1998, “Il Sottano” National Contest of Painting and in 2000, invitation to the “27th Sulmona Prize”.
