Oronzo Lupo was born in Francavilla Fontana on 7th June, 1973. He attended the State Institute of Art in Grottaglie, near Taranto and concluded his years of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce in 1997.
Qualified as a teacher, he was appointed as Professor of Design and Art History in 1999 and has been teaching ever since.
Lupo’s paintings “attack” immediately; forcing the eyes, soul and mind of the visitor to look for the the characters’ intensity and pathos- that characterises and historicises them with arrogance and “lively” sweetness- beyond the large draperies, faces and bright eyes.
His figures are alive. They come from his great love for everything that is true, that is real, like the warm land which has nurtured and flows through his veins. It is also the land from which he draws the basic colours of his palette- red and ocra- colours which he passes through the brush to ‘seemingly photograph’ reality.
He has received numerous awards and widespread recognition, such as the First National Prize in Abano Terme “Passeggiata delleTerme” in 1992 and in the same year, he was assigned the project for the paving of the Portico and Loggia. In 1995, he won First Prize extemporaneous Painting by the Committee of San Sebastian, in Francavilla Fontana, near Brindisi. In 1998, he was awarded First prize in the national competition “Comaedìa 2000″ (his winning picture “Abandon all hope ..” is displayed in the Casa di Dante, Florence) and in 2007, he won the Award for “artistic value” at the 1st International “Eiffel Trophy” in Paris.
